Craft Day!

Not only did I get to spend the day with my best friend Elisa but we had a craft day with some dear friends. Elisa and I drove to Vicki's (Elisa's sister-in-law) house which is near Lancaster/Palmdale. Elisa and I hadn't had a chance to get together in a while so we used the drive to catch up on the latest gossip....er....life happenings. Vicki's best friend, Ellen, was there and also Vicki's daughter Meg. I met a new friend, Linda, who was there for half the day but didn't get a picture of her.
Some of us knitted, some crocheted and some scrapped. We also took time out to go to lunch. Vicki served us big juicy strawberries and the others ate little cheese cakes that were lowfat and I'm told delicious.
Such a fun day! The next craft day will be at my house.

Ellen! She really did work on a project and didn't eat the whole time. Ha!

Past Friendships still current

Recently I was happy to spend time with friends whom I've known for years. The first lunch was a mini high school reunion. (No, I'm not telling you how many years) We had lunch at the Trump Country Club in Palos Verdes. It was so much fun. The food was delicious but better yet was catching up with those I hadn't seen in years.
Judy, Regina, Rosanna, Me, Rebecca, Karen
I think Jim liked being the only guy there. :)
One of the beautiful views outside of the restaurant.

The next dinner was with the girls from Alpha Beta. As some of you know, I worked for Alpha Beta grocery store for 14 years before I became a police officer. AB is no longer in existence but the ole gang still is. We get together whenever one of us has a birthday. (Happy Birthday Barbara) We missed Carol at this dinner and are praying for her dad's health.
Virginia, Me, Charlene, Vicki, Barbara
I also had lunch this week with Diane who was one of my best friends in high school. Wish I'd thought to get a picture. It was great to finally get together after so long.

Visit from Friends!

Tara and family came to California for a visit. Even though she deserted me by moving to Utah last year they still come back for visits because Tara's family lives in the area. I'm so happy!
Tara, Dan, Bryan, Cole & Cody came over on Monday. We hung out by the pool. While the kids (and Dan) had fun swimming Tara and I caught up on everything. It was so much fun. And, they even brought lunch. Walked in with hot dogs, buns and chips. Dan barbecued while I just sat back and relaxed. Glenn & Erika both got home from work in time to see them too.
Launa was happy to see her past babysitter.
The 3 boys:
Launa helped Dan pick up the toys from the pool. A couple of years ago when Tara started watching Launa she wouldn't have anything to do with Dan. Now they're buddies. She had fun in the pool and let Dan take her to the middle.

Friends

The 'former' Alpha Beta girls went out to dinner for Virginia's birthday. Happy Birthday Virginia! It was also a happy celebration because Virginia had just become a new grandma. We got to see the pictures of her new grandson. SO CUTE!

When I first arrived at the restaurant I was a little nervous. The sign said it was a sushi place. Yucch! But, I knew Virgina wouldn't really pick a place with just sushi. Osabi restaurant is one side sushi and the other is a family restaurant where they cook the food at your table. I hadn't been to a place like this in years. It was so much fun and the food was delicious. They served enough that I was able to take some home for Glenn to eat dinner too. He liked that.

Friendship!

I started working at Alpha Beta grocery store (now Ralphs grocery store) right out of high school and continued into my early 30's when I left to become a police officer. Fourteen years, I grew up in that place and I met some great people. Luckily since leaving in 1988 I still keep in touch with some of my friends. I periodically get to go to dinner or lunch with them. Last night we had dinner to celebrate Vicki's birthday. We'll be getting together in 2 weeks for Virginia's birthday. I'll have better pictures in 2 weeks because I promise I'll remember my camera. These pics are from my cell phone.
Carol started working 1 month before me. We went through a lot of personal things together in those 14 years. Carol is a loyal friend. She married one of our fellow workers, Ralph. Carol just retired from the grocery business last year. Way to go Carol!
I didn't work with Vicki (the birthday girl) but met her through the other girls. She's a lot of fun. The funny part is that she worked with Glenn years ago at Alpha Beta before he was hired by CHP. Glenn also worked with my brother. This was years before Glenn & I ever met.
Barbara is Vicki's sister. We met her last night. I'm happy she'll be joining us.
Virginia, who is one of the sweetest people around, retired from Alpha Beta after I did. Her brother, Gary, works for Oxnard PD so I got to know him better once I went over to VPD. Glenn also worked with Gary. It's a small world.
Charlene got to retire a few years ago too. Yea! Now she can devote more time to her crafts. Talk about a talented person. She lives real close to us in Ojai. You'd think we'd see each other more often but you know how life gets....

I feel privileged to still have these friends in my life!
